Kolasin is a mountain town, situated in the northern part of Montenegro with approximately 10 000 inhabitants. The unspoiled nature and a very good traffic connections to other parts of Montenegro make this small town the most attractive mountain destination in Montenegro. Kolasin is 65 km far away from Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro.

Traffic connections

Kolasin is connected to the capital with the Adriatic road, which passes through the attractive canyon of the river Moraca - Platije and railroad that passes through the mountain range with the highest railway bridge in Europe. A very good transport links with Podgorica makes Kolasin affordable for all guests that use air transport due to the proximity of the Podgorica airport, that is connected to all major air centers in Europe and worldwide, as well.

Natural and cultural values

This town lies at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level, what ranks Kolasin among one of the best air spas in Balkans. Unspoiled nature of mountain range of Bjelasica, Komovi, Sinjajevina and the forest complex of the National Park of Biogradska Gora (one of three rainforests in Europe) present a unique opportunity to enjoy different sports and recreational activities: hiking, climbing, mountaineering, skiing, cycling, riding tours, hunting, fishing ... The River Tara flows through Kolasin for 149 km long, with attractive canyon whose cliffs go up to 1300m. The Tara Canyon is the second deepest canyon in the world, but the first one in Europe. Tara canyon, included on the list of "Man and Biosphere", and within the National park "Durmitor", declared as a "World Heritage natural properties of UNESCO", fulfills three out of four conditions: geological, hydrological and biological phenomena. Tara is known for the extreme rafting and rafting – the natiral gift for the adrenaline "junkies". Beside unspoiled nature of Kolasin, there are numerous cultural and historical monuments: the Monastery Moraca from XIII century, the church of St. Demetrius from XIX century, the monastery Cirilovac...
